Life :: Island Tour

Part of the last semester of school meant doing 2 different 3 week long practicum placements. The first one found me back on Vancouver Island, about 30 minutes from where I grew up. I managed to live in the clinic, which was nice to avoid driving in the crazy snow the island never has...
While there, I chose to take a drive down island along the long/scenic route to visit a friend I haven't seen in 8 or so years. The trip that should have taken max 90 minutes, took me upwards of 4 hours... but I loved every minute of it...

Random find at Union Bay

Best loved creatures at Fanny Bay - cautious and curious about me sitting there photographing them...

Seagull and Starfish

Rathtrevor Beach

Train Tracks at Nanoose Bay

Nanaimo Harbour walk
It was a quiet, chill day. I managed to dodge the rain until I got close to Nanaimo, had a great lunch and  caught up with an old friend through a nice Nanaimo Harbour walk, and ice cream making. I miss the island sometimes...

Pets :: Fizz and Scrappy Doo

A year or so ago, Angela got some bad news - Poor Fizz had cancer. At that point, the plan was to keep him comfortable, and see how it went. We decided, after a particuarly bad week, to go out on a photo shoot so she was guaranteed some good photos of her and her boys.

Although it was focused around Fizz, Scrappy Doo kinda took control of the shoot, but we still got some great photos of both.

It was after this shoot, that I began throwing around the idea of doing a 'Senior Dog' project - something to highlight the bond between dog and owner, and showcase how great senior dogs can be...

Nothing like the bond between a girl and her dogs...

Just behind the tennis balls - Scrappy Doo loves sticks...

Scrappy Doo

Shortly after this shoot, we found out Scrappy Doo had cancer too - and his hit a lot quicker and a lot harder. Poor Angela had to put Scrappy down within a few weeks of his diagnosis... so in essence, maybe it was a good thing he took over this shoot...
